285 million people are estimated to be visually impaired worldwide (WHO, 2014): 39 million are blind and 246 million have low vision. In addition, millions of people have various other print disabilities. CELA's 3 minute video answers the question: "What is a print disability?".

Why choose and support DAISY or EPUB 3?

Open standards provide flexibility. You can listen to a digital book on a computer while reading the text with a braille display. You can also listen to a talking book with a special stand-alone player at home or use your mobile phone or tablet when traveling.

Navigable books can increase reading speed and improve reading efficiency. With the press of a button, you can jump to the chapter you need. . . faster than the eyes can skim.

Navigable content that has electronic text available, either with or without audio, may permit readers to examine the spelling of words, or search the text, by using a software player on a computer or a mobile app.

Some players also offer users the ability to display and highlight the text of the book on the screen. DAISY features have been integrated into the mainstream EPUB 3 standard.
